Keith Cowley of Personal Circle Center for Awareness will be on hand during the 12th annual celebration of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day at Waterford, CT marking the release of his first book “Presence: A Bagua Path to Fulfillment”. Cowley, no stranger to the event, has sponsored the activities for a number of years, and provided some of the free tai chi and free qigong classes made available to the general public. Again this year, Cowley, whose school was formerly known as Personal Circle Martial Arts has provided sponsorship support to the celebration, and will also be among those offering free classes throughout the day. Cowley will be offering his book for sale during the event and autograph them as requested. Looking forward to having Keith among our participating schools, and wishing him great success with the book release. Some details about the book are offered below. More to be added as they are made available.

Presence: A Bagua Path to Fulfillment by Keith M. Cowley © 2010, Wild Animal Publishing
Based upon the traditional art of Bagua (a Chinese internal philosophy), Cowley explores the foundational training of a sacred martial practice. Putting himself in the shoes of the founder of the art itself, developed over 200 years ago, Cowley journeyed inward to discover within himself what may actually have been taught on the mountain, and what Baguazhang was before it was combined with other family styles of combative kung fu. Presented as a mind/body practice, the reader can easily identify with the simplicity of the philosophies and drills. The text serves a great primer for anyone exploring the health and wellness, martial arts, or spirituality fields. No prior knowledge of Tai Chi, Baguazhang or Qigong is required to experience the author’s personal message.

Read More about Tai Chi and health: “A growing body of carefully conducted research is building a compelling case for tai chi as an adjunct to standard medical treatment for the prevention and rehabilitation of many conditions commonly associated with age,” says Peter M. Wayne, assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and director of the Tai Chi and Mind-Body Research Program at Harvard Medical School’s Osher Research Center. An adjunct therapy is one that’s used together with primary medical treatments, either to address a disease itself or its primary symptoms, or, more generally, to improve a patient’s functioning and quality of life.
